Whenever we speak to candidates, we inevitably end up at this question: "What is your dream job?". It's no surprise that most candidates will have a job in mind that they really want and we feel responsible to help them achieve it.
The most important thing you can do is be very honest with yourself and clarify what are your ambitions for the future. Here are some steps you can take:
1. Identify your career vision - this is a conversation around more than just target salary and company benefits. This is a process which you can use to identify exactly what you would like to do in your job.
2. Know what's not for you.
3. Discuss your vision with the employer or recruiter - how does your career vision align with the role you're going for? This will allow you to discuss your career with confidence.
4. Support your vision with past accomplishments - enable the recruiter to see that you're committed to this vision.
Remember that not all positions are a 100% match but being honest with the recruiter will enable you to build connections and showing your excitement and confidence in your career path will land you with the right opportunities, perhaps at the same company - so don't miss out, be clear in your mind.
